Healthy Kids/ Brighter Future :: 2017

Healthy Kids/ Brighter Future turns school teachers into front-line health workers that ensure low-income kids find the care they need when they need it.

In college Lonnie studied biochemistry and was recognized as a National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete and Truman Scholar. He was on track to become a doctor, but an opportune service trip to Zambia changed all that. Lonnie landed in Lusaka, a place with rampant extreme poverty and an HIV/AIDs crisis, and had to change course. Lonnie became singularly focused on getting children access to healthcare. He joined Global Health Corps in Zambia and then started HKBF.
