Sanku :: 2016
Essential micronutrients play a crucial role in the development of both brain and body. Staple foods in Africa are largely bereft of these micronutrients. Flour produced in big factories is fortified in many countries, but most people in Africa get their flour from small local mills that are widely distributed and unregulated. The achievement of local fortification has been an elusive Holy Grail for decades.
Felix is a former graphic designer and product developer. He runs Sanku, which makes a “dosifier” – a small machine that measures and mixes in a precise amount of micronutrient powder – that bolts directly to the kind of small mill that serves rural consumers. The Sanku dosifier makes it easy for millers to produce a better product: That means a healthier and brighter future for millions of kids.
