Maria Elena Franco — Fellows Principal

Maria joined Mulago in 2016 to run the Rainer Arnhold Fellows program and two years later, she became a Principal. She comes to Mulago from Children International, a humanitarian organization, where she designed and launched their first Bay Area Chapter and built a robust donor base. Prior to Children International, Maria was a Research Associate at MIT’s Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) in Chile, managing a field team of 15 and doing complex data collection in rural settings. She has development experience in five countries. Maria received her BA in Political Science & Ballet from Chapman University, and her MA in Conflict Resolution from American University.
