WildAid

Big Idea:

There are thousands of marine protected areas in the world. But, the majority of MPAs in developing coastal areas don’t reach their conservation potential. WildAid helps governments and communities enforce existing Marine Protected Areas. Their trainings and tools build better governance and increase the odds that MPAs work.

Meaghan has spent most of her career fighting illegal fishing around the world. She leads Marine Protection at WildAid and is expanding the program to make the promise of MPAs global. She has held roles ranging from a U.S. Coast Guard law enforcement officer in Alaska to an independent consultant and advisor to senior government leaders in Thailand. She serves in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve.
