The private sector has invested in a more sustainable seafood industry, but small scale fisheries have been left behind. Blueyou develops projects for community-based fisheries and brokers investment in those fisheries. Their new work focuses on Latin America, Asia and Africa.
René is an entrepreneur, biologist and an aquatic environment enthusiast. Since his early childhood he has been fascinated by the life in our rivers, lakes and oceans. René leads Blueyou, an international group of companies dedicated to sustainable seafood solutions which he founded 15 years ago. Blueyou’s successful ventures include Selva Shrimp® and Artesmar® which improve livelihoods of more than 20,000 smallholder producers. Before founding Blueyou, René worked as a procurement manager for sustainable seafood for a major Swiss retail company.
