Education – especially for girls – is one of the most powerful ways to reduce poverty and inequality. India has made a commitment to provide schools and primary education for all children, yet many girls are still stuck at home doing chores. Educate Girls mobilizes and supervises community volunteers who go door-to-door to convince families to send their girls to school. Then they tap into government resources to improve the schools and offer a remedial education program so these girls (and the rest of the kids) get a decent education once they get there. Educate Girls is a rare example of a scalable, high-impact education solution that unlocks mandated funding and taps into existing school infrastructure. Their solution works and continues to achieve impressive enrollment and learning outcomes as it rapidly scales.
