Why We Invest

Commodity production is the leading cause of deforestation. PemPem is out to end it, starting with palm oil in Indonesia. It’s a digital trading platform that creates transparency in informal supply chains — from the farm to the factory. Farmers get reliable, consistent access to buyers through the app, as long as they farm away from protected areas. This way, buyers know for sure that their products come from places that don't harm forests.

Digital traceability platforms are inherently scalable, and there are a bunch of them, mostly focused on the formal portion of the supply chain. PemPem focuses on the informal part, from farm to factory, and has the unique potential to integrate critical data on financial transactions and commodity location — providing traceability without additional cost.
