Eli studied engineering at Stanford and was an early employee at The Climate Corporation. The products he developed there were used on more than 50 million acres and the experience gave him a good sense of global farming issues. African maize farmers produce only 10-20% of US farmers and Eli became intrigued with possibilities of applying sophisticated data techniques and mobile technology to get farmers to adopt modern, high-yield practices.
