There is overwhelming evidence that school feeding has a dramatic effect on learning, and besides, no kid should go through the day hungry. Food for Education provides a nutritious daily lunch to primary school children in Kenya. They source food directly from local farmers and produce meals in a “hub and spoke” structure to efficiently provide inexpensive, nutritious food for kids.
Wawira is a trained nutritionist and social entrepreneur from Kenya. She earned a degree in Nutrition Science from the University of South Australia and immediately launched Food 4 Education. She has been recognized for her school-feeding work by Spark International, the University of Cape town, the GSBI/Miller Center, the Stanford Design school, and the DRK Foundation.
