Guillaume Virag

Project Alba

Big Idea:

Why we chose Guillaume as a Fellow

Guillaume is using his background in IT startups in France to help farmers in Cambodia. As a young entrepreneur, Guillaume was attracted to microfinance and, after studying economics, jumped into the fray of partnership farming.

Farmers worldwide need the same things: access to markets, inputs, and training. Project Alba created a new model that provides farmers with inputs and training gratis, while guaranteeing them a price for their produce. Alba would make money by finding higher-paying buyers. The improvement in farmer incomes by a for-profit company has the potential to influence a much larger market.
